The Ijsselmeer is the most popular sailing area in the Netherlands. Holland offers an excellent sailing infrastructure and numerous opportunities for boat rental. Along the waterways you will find many charming ports not far from one another. The close proximity of the towns allows you to sail in short stages, making it a good area to practice. Traditional Dutch ships are also available for charter.

Sailing Conditions

The weather on the inland waterways is not to be underestimated. The wind can blow at 7-9Bft on the Ijsselmeer and create short shafts. Always check the local weather forecast. You should also be wary of stranding on the sandy beds of the canals.
