What to do in an emergency

Emergencies can be caused by a sudden change in weather, technical glitches, errors made by the crew or other boats, as well as external forces. Before setting sail, make sure you are briefed on the specific safety features of your boat.

Below are the most important procedures to follow in the case of an emergency:

  1. Do not panic
  2. Find something to hold on to
  3. Send a distress call using the radio, mobile phone or flare
  4. Put on a life jacket
  5. Wait for the feedback and stay in constant contact with the emergency services
  6. If possible, use the life raft or boat
