Thailand offers beautiful year-round sailing.
Set sail from Phuket & experience all the Andaman Sea has to offer!
On the west coast there are numerous attractions, like the Bay of Phang Nga with its offshore islands or the 120 km long coastline of Krabi with many natural lagoons. There is an abundance of beautiful islands here such as: the Koh Phi Phi Islands, Phi Phi Le, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, Koh Tarutao, Koh Similan, Koh Surin and many more. The Gulf of Thailand is another idyllic sailing area. In this area there are the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Chang - the second largest island of Thailand, which is worth exploring. The Thai overseas territories have a fantastic marine life and are excellent for snorkeling and diving.
The largest yacht charter area Thailand base is the island of Phuket. There are several marinas on the island that offer good service and facilities, such as: Yacht Harbor Marina Phuket, Ao Po Grand Marina, Ao Chalong Yacht Club and Phuket Boat Lagoon. The range of charter yachts in Thailand is relatively large. However, the sailing infrastructure is not as well developed as in Europe. A good starting point for a sailing trip is the Marina at the northern end of Phuket as it has modern facilities and can accommodate over 200 yachts for charter. The Ao Po Grand Marina, and the Ao Chalong Yacht Club Marina are also fine starting points. From these points you can explore the west coast of Thailand and the islands of the Andaman Sea. Other possibilities for yacht charter are on Koh Samui and Koh Chang. Here, there is a good selection of yachts but the sailing infrastructure is poorer than in Phuket.
Outside of the charter bases there are a few other ports and marinas. Thailand has very relaxed rules and regulations. There are no area restrictions for sailors so charter crews can move very freely. As for the cost of living, Thailand is a cheap destination and yacht charter is considered a luxury.
With its idyllic weather, perfect sandy beaches, friendly hosts and great sailing conditions year round, it is no wonder that Thailand is a popular destination for beginner and experienced sailors alike. Whether for a romantic get-away, fun family holiday or a relaxing retreat to see the sights of Thailand, a sailing adventure is unlikely to disappoint.
